Phil Butter ist ein alter Hase als Arrangeur in der niederländischen Blasmusikwelt. Mit 'Woody' schrieb er ein Stück symphonischer Jazzmusik, etwa im Leroy Anderson Stil. Seine Komposition ist aber sehr leicht zu spielen weil es keine nennenswerten technischen Schwierigkeiten gibt. Schöne und originale Unterhaltungsmusik die auch von anfängenden Jugenblasorchestern leicht gespielt werden kann.

Phil Butter is a most experienced Dutch wind band music arranger. He wrote this composition as a piece of symphonic jazz in the Leroy Anderson style. However, this work has the advantage that it can be performed by wind band from all levels, especially also by youth wind bands. Here you have a fine piece of light orchestral music without technical difficulties.

Phil Butter, un vieux routier dans le domaine des arrangements pour orchestre à vent aux Pays-Bas, a voulu écrire un morceau de jazz symphonique, un peu dans le style de Leroy Anderson. Ce morceau a cependant le grand avantage de pouvoir être joué sans difficultés par des orchestres d'harmonie de niveau moyen. Phil Butter, een ervaren rot in de Nederlandse hafawereld als arrangeur, schreef met 'Woody' een stukje symfonische jazzmuziek zowat in de stijl van Leroy Anderson. Dit stuk heeft echter het grote voordeel dat het ook door harmonieorkesten uit lagere afdelingen met alle gemak gespeeld kan worden. Kortom mooie lichte orkestmuziek zonder noemenswaardige technische moeilijkheden.
