Remember Me Pavel Stanek

Following the overwhelming success of St. Thomas Choral, Pavel Stanék was repeatedly approached by performers requesting a similarly resonant work. With Remember Me, the composer has undoubtedly fulfilled this wish. Though less sacred in tone and structure than St. Thomas Choral, the piece is marked by a wistful richness that unfolds in an almost endless melodic flow.
Its voice leading and harmonic depth are reminiscent of the music of Richard Wagner or Anton Bruckner. Although the piece is classified as intermediate level, it places the highest demands on the emotional sensitivity and listening ability of all performers.
To interpret Remember Me meaningfully and shape its vast arcs of tension with convincing dynamics, the work cannot simply be played through quickly as a warm-up. This would also be physically unfeasible for a wind ensemble. Remember Me is ideally suited to developing fluid ensemble playing with an intermediate-level orchestra and to introducing amateur musicians to the potential of deeply felt interpretation. The work is destined to achieve a similarly impressive success as St. Thomas Choral.
