Last Call was commissioned by Thomas Beiganz, manager of the Brass Band Oberösterreich (Upper Austria Brass Band). There is, currently, relatively little repertoire available for brass bands in a modern, pop/funk style, and so Last Call is already the second piece that this brass band, under the direction of Hannes Buchegger, has commissioned from the composer. The band was in need of a finale-piece to provide it with one last chance to wow its audience with its talent and skill. The piece opens with an impressive fanfare, followed by the first chorus. The chorus introduces a catchy melody that undergoes various transformations throughout the piece and is always supported by an underlying funk-rhythm. Last Call is an ideal encore selection and brings new meaning to the old saying, it isn't over until it's over.

Last Call est la deuxième commande qu'Otto Schwarz a reçue du Brass Band de Haute-Autriche et de son manager, Thomas Beiganz. Placés sous la direction d'Hannes Buchegger, les musiciens souhaitaient disposer d'un morceau final qui leur permettait de briller une dernière fois devant leur public. Partant du constat que le répertoire pour Brass Band contenait un nombre relativement limité de pièces de style pop-funk, Otto M.Schwarz leur a composé Last Call (Dernier appel), une uvre pop-funk qui débute avec une fanfare impressionnante suivie immédiatement du premier chorus. Ce dernier introduit une mélodie entraînante qui subit plusieurs transformations à travers le développement de l'uvre tout en étant soutenue par un rythme funk. Last Call est le bis idéal qui nous rappelle la citation : « Ce n'est pas fini, tant que ce n'est pas fini. »

Last Call is geschreven in opdracht van Thomas Beiganz, de manager van de Brass Band Oberösterreich. Er is momenteel nog relatief weinig repertoire verkrijgbaar voor brassbands in een moderne pop/funkstijl. Om die reden is Last Call al het tweede werk dat de componist heeft vervaardigd in opdracht van deze Oostenrijkse brassband, die onder leiding staat van dirigent Hannes Buchegger. De band had een spetterend slotwerk nodig om het publiek mee op de banken te krijgen met de nodige ruimte voor het etaleren van de in de gelederen aanwezige kwaliteiten. Het werk opent met een indrukwekkende fanfare, gevolgd door het eerste refrein, dat een aanstekelijke melodie introduceert. Deze ondergaat diverse transformaties, steeds ondersteund door een onderliggend funkritme. Last Call is een ideale toegift. Het is, bij wijze van spreken, helemaal het einde!
