Oskar Rieding was born 1840 in Germany. He studied Music in Berlin and Leipzig before moving to Vienna in the 1860s. There he met the acclaimed conductor Hans Richter through whom he acquired a conducting post at the Budapest Opera House. In the following 32 years Oskar Rieding gained fame as a Vvolinist and conductor in the Hungarian capital. He wrote several concertos for violin as well as light music. After his retirement in 1904 he moved to Cilli where he died in 1918. The present Edition of Rieding's most famous Concerto for Violin h minor op.35 for solo violin and strings has been arranged für chamber Music work. The solo violin part can however also be played by the first violins.
