On the Town - 3 Dance Episodes Leonard Bernstein / Arr. Ray Farr

CONCERTBAND ENTERTAINMENT
On the Town 3 Dance Episodes
The music to this musical is perhaps more known from the hits New York, New York and Some Other Time, It was based on a ballet Fancy Free by Jerome Robbins to which Leonard Bernstein wrote the music. The music integrates dance into its storytelling, so it is nice to be able to present these three dance episodes: 1. The Great Lover, 2. Lonely Town and 3. Times Square 1944.
The story concerns three American sailors on a 24-hours shore leave in New York City during wartime 1944. Each of the three sailors becomes enamoured of a particular woman . and of the city itself. On the Town was first produced on Broadway in 1944 and was made into a film in 1949.
