Ulysses at the Edge oft he World war ursprünglich ein Stück in gleichtemperierter 12-Ton-Stimmung. Die hier vorliegende Fassung ist das Ergebnis weiterer Revisionen mit einem neuen Vokalpart, der eine Frage enthält, die Partch auf seinen Reisen als Landstreicher von der lokalen Polizei oft zu hören bekommen hatte: Dein Name ist also Ulysses weil du in der Weltgeschichte umherstreifst. Ulysses at the Edge of the World était à l'origine une pièce en douze notes tempérées. La version ici présente est le résultat de révisions ultérieures avec une nouvelle partie vocale, qui contient une question que Partch a souvent entendu au cours de ses voyages, posée par les polices locales : « Ton nom est donc Ulysse - parce que tu rôdes dans l'histoire du monde. Dis-moi, as-tu déjà été en prison ? »
