The last major project of his life, The Dreamer That Remains, was composed while Harry Partch was being filmed from the beginning of his work until the world premiere in 1972. The resulting documentary offers a unique insight into the technical requirements of the musicians as well as the handling of the instruments designed by Partch himself, such as the Adapted Viola, New Harmonic Canon I, New Kithara I, Boo II and Mbira Bass Dyad.

Composant The Dreamer That Remains comme le dernier grand projet de sa vie, Harry Partch a été accompagné par une équipe de tournage du début du travail jusqu'à la création de l'uvre en 1972. Le documentaire en résultant donne un aperçu unique des exigences techniques faites aux musiciens ainsi que de l'usage des instruments conçus par Partch lui-même, tels que l'Alto adapté, la New Harmonic Canon I, la New Kithara I, le Boo II et le Mbira Bass Dyad.
