Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) composed his opera Rigoletto in 1851 and together with La Traviata (1853) and Il Trovatore (1853), this opera belongs to the top of Verdi's middle period of composing. The canzone La donna è mobile is sung by Il Duca de Mantua in the third act. He gives voice to his guiding rule : La donna è mobile (woman is fickle).
