This gravely beautiful choral work, dedicated to a victim of the Lockerbie air crash of 1988, consists of five sections and provides only two of the traditional requiem texts - 'Kyrie' and 'Agnus Dei' - with the addition of 'In Paradisum' from the Order of Burial. In between these traditional movements come two other sections, one using Bede's paraphrase of Caedmon's Creation Hymn in Latin and the other an original Caedmon poem in the dialiect of 7th-century Northumbria.

Cette belle uvre chorale empreinte de solennité, dédiée à une victime de l'attentat aérien de Lockerbie en 1988, est divisée en cinq parties qui n'utilisent que deux des textes traditionnels du Requiem - le "Kyrie" et l'"Agnus Dei" - avec l'ajout du "In paradisum" des enterrements. Entre ces mouvements traditionnels s'insèrent deux autres parties, l'une utilisant la paraphrase de Bede sur l'"Hymne de la création" de Caedmon en latin et l'autre un poème original de Caedmon en dialecte de la Northumbrie du VIIe siècle.
