Frank W. Meacham's claim to fame rests almost wholly on AMERICAN PATROL. For more than 30 years, he worked as a composer and arranger, particulary of piano music, the instrument for which this march was originally written. Even though the piano version never achieved the success of the band version, the trio melody has been played and hummed by millions upon millions.
