Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) was a German composer, conductor, organist and pianist of the early Romantic period. This Wedding March, extracted from the theatre music written for William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream, composed in 1842, is one of Mendelssohn's most popular piecesIt is, of course, often performed at the organ at wedding ceremonies, but it is also a favourite festive opening piece for orchestra and band concerts.
