Grieg composed this funeral march for his friend, Norwegian composer Rikard Nordraak who died at the age of 23. Grieg took copies of this piece on all his travels as he wished that it would be played at his own funeral. This arrangement is from Ton van Grevenbroek.

Grieg componeerde deze dodenmars voor zijn vriend de Noorse componist Rikard Nordraak, die op 23 jarige leeftijd stierf. Grieg nam de mars mee op al zijn reizen en wilde dat deze ook op zijn eigen begrafenis gespeeld zou worden. Ton van Grevenbroek maakte dit arrangement.
