'distant traces' comes close to the genre of the piano trio in an unusual way, because the violoncello has been replaced by a viola. Created for a concert in Hamburg in remembrance of his former composition teacher György Ligeti who died in 2006, the English title can be taken literally: as a distant search for traces set to music.
