David Popper (1843-1913), a pupil of Julius Goltermann, was not only a much-travelled and successful concert cellist. Like many of his virtuoso fellow musicians, he left a number of compositions for his instruments for posterity, such as the 'Fantasy on Little Russian Themes' Op. 43. This charming piece is now available in a new edition edited by the renowned cellist Maria Kliegel.

David Popper (1843-1913), un élève de Julius Goltermann, ne fut pas qu'un brillant soliste et grand voyageur. Comme beaucoup de ses confrères virtuoses, il a laissé à la postérité une série de compositions pour le violoncelle, dont la "Fantaisie sur des thèmes de la Petite Russie" op. 43. Cette pièce charmante est maintenant disponible dans une réédition par la violoncelliste de renom Maria Kliegel, qui a également enregistré l'oeuvre chez Naxos.
