In the Meditation a passacaglia is built on the base of twelve different clusters in the piano; the series begins in the third bar after a short introduction, is completely repeated three times, and counterpointed by the ever transforming vibraphone melody. Framing the movement the introduction is repeated at the end.The character of the second movement Ostinato is moulded by an ascending four-note motive contrasted by a damper-pedalled eight-tone sequence developing into a short melody. I Meditation - II Ostinato

La Méditation applique le principe structurel de la Passacaille à une série de 12 sons différents. Cette séquence d'accords apparaît trois fois au piano (à partir de la mesure 3) et s'accompagne en contrepoint au vibraphone d'une mélodie caractérisée par la métamorphose. Les dernières mesures reprennent celles de l'introduction, encadrant ainsi l'oeuvre entire.Le deuxième mouvement, Ostinato, consiste en une suite de quatre tons sans cesse répétés, à laquelle s'oppose une autre suite de huit tons pédalisée tour à tour par les deux instruments et d'où résulte, au cours du morceau, une brève mélodie. Les multiples combinaisons de ces premiers éléments produisent un rondo de caractère divertissant qui, sur le plan rythmique, s'inspire de la musique de jazz.Daniela Koreimann
