'Broken Psalm' was commissioned by Cambridge University to celebrate their 800th anniversary and first performed by the Choir of Gonville & Caius College in 2009. Goehr, who was Professor of music at the university between 1976 and 1999, has assembled verses from psalms 42, 75 and 139 for mixed choir to create a rich, free-flowing sound world. Suitable for good amateur choirs, 'Broken Psalm' would be an ideal repertoire addition from one of the UKs most highly regarded composers.
