The Winkler Prins School, in Veendam, commissioned Overture to a Jubilee on the occasion of their 150th anniversary. Andreas Ludwig Schulte has based the work on the schools logo: three owls. These represent the three phases of the student's school life. From being led, to being guided to being independent. In Overture to a Jubilee each of these phases is announced by an opening fanfare.

Overture to a Jubilee était écrite à la commande de l'École Winkler Prins à Veendam à l'occasion de leur 150ième anniversaire. Andreas Ludwig Schulte fait dans cet uvre en trois parties référence au logo de l'école : trois chouettes. Celles-ci symbolisent les trois phases des écoliers : guidés, accompagnés, indépendants. Dans Overture to a Jubilee chacune de ces phases est annoncée par une fanfare d'ouverture.

Overture to a Jubilee werd in opdracht van de Winkler Prins School in Veendam geschreven vanwege hun 150-jarig bestaan. Andreas Ludwig Schulte verwijst in dit driedelige werk naar het logo van de school: drie uilen. Deze staan voor de 3 fases die de scholieren op school doorlopen. Van geleid naar begeleid tot aan zelfstandigheid. In Overture to a Jubilee wordt elk van deze fases aangekondigd door een openingsfanfare.
