*St. Louis, USA, 11. Juni 1929. Saxophonist, Komponist im Bereich des Jazz, gehörte 1951 sowie 1954 bis 1959 dem Orchester Stan Kenton an, für den er auch als Arrangeur arbeitete. Seit 1959 ist Niehaus vor allem als Komponist für das Fernsehen und für das Schauspiel tätig. Aus der Reihe seiner Filmmusik-Kompositionen sind "Tightrope", "City Head", "Sesame Street Presents Follow That Bird", "Heartbreak Ridge" und "Bird" (über Charlie Parker) zu nennen.
