Colonna Jim geb. in 2. Mai 1970. Colonna gehörte als Trompeter verschiedenen militärischen und zivilen Orchestern an, begann 1996 für Blasorchester zu komponieren und graduierte an der University of North Texas zum Master of Music in Blasorchester-Direktion. Von 2001 bis 2005 dirigierte er das Blasorchester des Laramie County Community College. Die Doktoratsstudien absolvierte er an der Michigan State Universitys School of Music.
