[EN]It is an unpublished score by Giuseppe Verdi, whose manuscript was given to the director Luchino Visconti. Nino Rota, to whom Visconti had entrusted the creation of the soundtrack of the film Il Gattopardo, adapted the piece so that it could be performed by a small ensemble and recorded it in Palermo in a relatively hasty way to present an audition to the director. However, the latter decided not to modify the recording because in the final scene of the dance the orchestra plays live in a private house and an imperfect performance was more realistic.
[DE]Es handelt sich um eine unveröffentlichte Partitur von Giuseppe Verdi, deren Manuskript dem Regisseur Luchino Visconti übergeben wurde. Nino Rota, dem Visconti die Gestaltung der Filmmusik zu Il Gattopardo anvertraut hatte, passte das Stück so an, dass es von einem kleinen Ensemble aufgeführt werden konnte, und nahm es in Palermo relativ eilig auf, um dem Regisseur ein Vorspiel zu präsentieren. Dieser beschloss jedoch, die Aufnahme nicht zu ändern, da das Orchester in der Schlussszene des Tanzes live in einem Privathaus spielt und eine unvollkommene Aufführung realistischer wäre.
