Neon is a chemical element of the periodic table. It belongs to the group of noble gases and is a colorless and odorless gas. Neon produces a characteristic reddish-orange glow when used in certain types of lamps or in advertising signs. The composition takes a cue precisely from the intermittent irregular and crackling flashing of a neon lamp and transforms it into music by means of a large variety of percussive effects. Neon is a composition that belongs to a series which is inspired by the noble gases. This work received the first prize in the wind band section at the national competition 'Media Musicale' of Minori Costa d'Amalfi (Salerno).
