1939 schrieb der russische Komponist Dmitri Kabalevsky Bühnenmusik für ein Kinderspiel des sowjetisch-jüdischen Schriftstellers Mark Daniel mit dem Titel 'Der Erfinder und die Komiker'. Das Stück wurde im Zentralen Kindertheater in Moskau aufgeführt und handelte vom deutschen Erfinder Johannes Gutenberg und einer Gruppe reisender Witzbolde.

Die 'Suite von den Komikern' ist heute eines seiner bekanntesten und beliebtesten Werke. Es handelt sich um eine Orchestersuite mit zehn Sätzen, und insbesondere der Galop' aus dieser Suite gehört zu Kabalevskys berühmtesten Stücken.

The play was staged at the 'Central Children's Theatre in Moscow and was about the German inventor Johannes Gutenberg and a group of travelling buffoons. The 'Suite from The Comedians' is now one of his best known and best-loved works. It's an orchestral suite of ten movements and in particular, the 'Galop' from this Suite belongs to Kabalevsky's most famous pieces.
